As an Infrastructure Engineer you will be in a team responsible for the creation, adoption, and maintenance of good Infrastructure engineering practices across the Quilter group.
To provide technical and process direction to the wider Infrastructure organisation.
To support the continuous improvement of the Infrastructure function through operational and technology improvements. You'll also discover an inclusive culture and every opportunity for personal and professional development.  About the role The Infrastructure engineering team is a small team that work closely with the various infrastructure support functions to ensure that good engineering practices are deployed throughout the IT estate and that support teams display engineering disciplines are part of their day to day activities.

The responsibilities of the team cover: New technology evaluation Testing methodologies Lifecycle management Standards These Engineering practices cover the following technology areas: Server and Virtualisation Storage Network Database End-User Technologies The role will be required to provide general technical input and direction to the wider infrastructure team. The role is also expected to be hands-on, and will be required to design, implement, and run appropriate processes, produce documentation and standards, and produce appropriate metrics and reports.

Core Technology Platforms Enterprise Operating Systems VMware vSphere and related products HP Intel Hardware including HPE Blade technologies Microsoft Database Technologies Fundamental Windows Networking Scripting and Automation Monitoring and management Automation Automation of administrative activities to reduce effort and improve reliability Management Information / Reporting Contributing to the creation and maintenance of high-quality data sources for IT capacity and asset management information Operational / Technical Best Practices Contributing best practices to the operational running of the infrastructure estate Providing best practices input into the technical design process Incident Resolution & Continuous Improvement Working with the IT Operations team, providing technical input and expertise to the incident resolution process Providing input for improvement to technology and process in the post-incident follow-up process About you Candidates will have experience within a support or engineering function, ideally across multiple infrastructure disciplines.

Candidates will be able to demonstrate a depth of knowledge and practical experience in a number of the following (or similar) areas: Windows Server Operating Systems (2000 - 2016) Unix / Linux Operating Systems (RHEL, AIX) VMware vSphere Microsoft SQL Server and related products HP 3Par Storage Products Cisco Networking Products Incident, Problem and Change management IT Security controls Can be a role model for the wider team
