This post plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of the Mandarin Excellence Programme (MEP).  The post holder will work closely with the MEP Coordinator, the IOE CI Director and IOE CI General Manager to lead project implementation as required. The post holder will manage a number of tasks concurrently, develop project plans, manage risks and issues and monitor project quality assurance. Evaluation demonstrating the success and impact of project delivery is important. This will involve data capture from schools and the management and the handling of personal data. Budget reporting, planning and forecasting is a key duty and the Project Manager will ensure that all projects are operating within agreed financial parameters.

A key area of responsibility is to contribute towards the successful delivery of the MEP communication strategy, and the delivery of intensive study visits China for large numbers of MEP school-based students. Both of these aspects of delivery involve working closely with the British Council who are delivery partners for the MEP. The Project Manager will collate and report project status reports and update project documentation on a regular basis, which is then reported internally, with programme partners and to funders.

This post is available from 1 April 2020 and is initially funded to 31 March 2021, with a view to extending the duration beyond this date (subject to programme extension).

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate previous successful Project Management experience. The role will require excellent attention to detail. The workload will be diverse and fast-paced, and the post holder is required to meet tight deadlines so proven organisational skills, adaptability and the ability to work under pressure in a busy changing environment is crucial. Teamwork and the ability to build relationships at all levels across the IOE Confucius Institute team and wider with UCL colleagues, Programme Partners and funders and the ability to work independently is necessary.
