The Senior DBA will design, monitor and maintain the company's databases and provide subject matter and 3rd line technical expertise on SQL Databases. As well as this the Senior DBA will assist MI, Applications and Development teams on problem resolutions and the delivery of business projects .Client DetailsA leading international legal business in Bristol City Centre.DescriptionArchitect/Design (Infrastructure), Implement, configure, and maintain database instances, replication, backup, partitions, storage, security and accessManage monitoring and optimisation of system performanceDocument and maintain configuration for the design, routines, processes and toolsIdentify areas for improvement. Recommend solutions based on the technical analysis of business requirementsDesign and manage production and non-production environmentsAdministration of Microsoft BI suite (SSIS, SSRS & SSAS)Operate in a highly skilled and respected technical team controlling the delivery of key components for database administration, implementation and upgrade projectsLead ongoing 3rd line support activities related to the firm's Database Infrastructure, taking ownership of and escalating to Infrastructure and Problem Managers when requiredReview capacity requirements and manage capacity planning for database systemsEnsure that IT continuity plans, technology and tools safeguard data integrity, security and accessTaking steps to guarantee the integrity and availability of our data.Mentor and transfer knowledge and skills to the Infrastructure teamWorking with Development and MI Teams to influence and advise on the best solutions.Input to technical strategy and architecture, project engineering design and documentationEvaluation of potential solution providers, selection of preferred supplierLiaise and work with development ,and production support teams to achieve the best solutionDevelop implementation test plans ensuring functionality, performance, availability and continuity are delivered to specification, policies and best practicesAct as technical specialist to project teamsEvaluate change control requests for impactEnsure compliance with information security policies, standards and procedures in the day-to-day delivery of IT servicesSupport information security risk assessments within IT Service Delivery by making resources available where appropriateProactively identify and report security risks to the Information Security teamAdvising on and implementing security best-practice.Understand the business and its objectivesCo-ordinate with teams within IT to ensure that service outages are correctly communicated to the business or affected usersWork with the problem management team or other virtual teams as requiredWhen required represent Infrastructure at team, department and supplier meetingsDevelop and maintain knowledge and skills and keep up-to-date with new processes, procedures and developmentsAttend training to develop relevant knowledge and skillsHandle confidential information in line with the firms data security protocolsIs also willing to take ownership on any other tasks and responsibilities required until completeProfile5+ years of DBA experience in MS SQL environments.Strong experience of database infrastructure design/architectureAutomation / multi-platform scripting, PowershellSQL Clustering / Always On Availability Groups /SQL Server EnterpriseAbility to design database infrastructure as part of a complex multi-platform environment.Experience of a Cloud technology (Azure/Aws)Solid skills in database performance factors, monitoring tools and tuning proceduresHigh availability environment experience and disaster recoveryStay up to date with latest developments and industry best-practiceLegal industry exposure (Desirable)Job OfferThe Senior DBA is entitled to:Up to 55k Salary DOE25 days annual leave (increasing year on year up to 30 days)9% pension (4% employee contribution)Private Medical InsuranceGroup Income ProtectionLife InsuranceGymflexBike to work schemeSeason ticket loans
