Background and context of roleThe Global Chief Data Office (GCDO)The GCDO is responsible for the governance of PwC’s client, third party and internal data. It delivers data services to the PwC Network to support the delivery of its vision to become a data driven organisation that applies the same discipline and management control to data that we apply to governing and managing other critical assets such as our cash and our people.GCDO Finance Data OperationsThe PwC Network operates in 150 countries and generates US$40bn in revenues. The Data Finance Operations team is responsible for acquiring and assuring finance data from PwC Network Firms to support Network Operations reporting, as well as sustaining master and reference data, and financial data aggregation services to meet business needs.Role descriptionReporting to the Data Operations Director the primary responsibility of the role is to oversee the day to day operations of the team along with managing the demand and change portfolio for GCDO Finance Data Operations.Specific responsibilities OperationsResponsible for the monthly data acquisition cycles for Global Data Warehouse (GDW), Operating Statements (TM1) and Globally incurred costs (Network Costs) as well as agreeing the published timetable and SLA, ensuring system availability, accuracy and appropriate user communications. Responsible for managing the day to day ISO27001 environment for GDW, ensuring the controls and procedures that support information security are in place and adhered to from both technology and business operations.Proactively manage operational security risks where necessary consult/escalate to GCDO Leadership.Develop and maintain a culture of continued improvement to ensure operational efficiencies and and streamlined processes through process standardisation and automation.Act as an SME for the controls and processes for the GDW/GCP environments. Lead detailed discussions with internal and external auditors working with IT as necessary.Demand and Change PortfolioResponsible for providing subject matter expertise to territories in the development/maintenance of data feeds and ensuring continued compliance with all Network Standards governing data management.Collaborating with R&A SME’s, IT, and applicable GCDO functions to identify systems solutions that are effective and fit for purpose, meeting business needs.Working across time zones, establishing and maintaining close working relationships with IT who run the system backend.Manage capacity and provide direction to the Kolkata Acceleration Centre development and operations teams.Responsibility for Assets and ResourcesLine Manager to the GCDO Finance Data Operations Manager and Finance Data Change and Portfolio Manager.Manage relationships with acceleration centre team through regular service reviews, ensuring that resources are fully utilised and aligned with the goals and objectives of the team and wider GCDO.Team dimensions, 2 onshore Managers, 1 onshore business analyst, 16 acceleration centre resources.Responsible for annual preparation, forecast and monitoring of the teams operating budget.Customer ManagementTake a proactive and consultative approach with the teams stakeholder groups, directly through Network Operations R&A Team, Client Interface Team, and other groups to understand and deliver on their requirements.Role requirementsFive to ten years relevant systems experience coupled with an accounting/financial qualification.Experience of working in finance operations environmentKnowledge of data protection, privacy, or data risk management concepts A high level of IT and systems knowledge is necessary to enable the role holder to manage system developments and to be able to provide direction for data solutions.Project Management skills (Agile) and Risk, Issue, Assumption and Dependency (RAID) management.Able to understand the network financial and master data management systems used to capture and record data.Knowledge of data quality management especially with regard to financial reporting.Experience of leading teams through change and transformation.Adaptable and flexible; resilient to changing priorities, ambiguity and continuous change.Ability to develop and sustain effective working relationships.Good written and verbal communication skills, comfortable presenting to stakeholders.Experience working with virtual teams and diverse cultures across different time-zones.
