Oracle DBA

A leading service business in the UK that develop innovative solutions that improve company efficiencies is looking to hire an Oracle DBA / Database Administrator to join their Infrastructure team based just outside Newcastle

As an Oracle DBA you will be responsible for the support and maintenance of the Database environments, this includes performance management of database and application server environments, management of backup and recovery and maintenance of business application software within the database environments.

Oracle DBA Key responsibilities

*Manage the installation, maintenance and development of the corporate server software and hardware

*Manage infrastructure performance and capacity and data security and make recommendations for improvements.

*Monitor corporate servers and ensure efficient optimization of system performance.

*Diagnose and resolve infrastructure problems, ensuring that account is taken of agreed levels of service and the needs for quality, security, availability and safety, utilising appropriate specialised techniques, tools, methods or standards.

*Advise ICT colleagues on Oracle licensing and deployment strategies.

*Plan for backup and recovery of system and database information, ensuring backup is carried out as per plans, planning and managing exercises to prove recovery procedures.

*Implement recovery procedures when necessary.

*Keep abreast of developments with regards Oracle and other database software and the underlying hardware infrastructure.

Working knowledge of some or all of the following:

*Oracle database server in a Unix environment

*Unix system administration

*Oracle E-Business Suite

*MySQL

*Oracle Weblogic Server

*Oracle Apex (desirable)
