BI Analyst

We are currently looking for a BI Analyst to joining our Group Technology and Change team based in Edinburgh on a full time, permanent basis.

The main purpose of the role is to be responsible for understanding the BI and reporting needs of key business stakeholders and working with colleagues in the BI Specialist Team to ensure the successful delivery of solutions which meet these requirements.

Key Accountabilities

Develop and maintain an understanding of the business data landscape, databases, and data models and how this is consumed by the Business.

Document BI/Data requirements, working alongside other BA's, ensuring source traceability and adherence to specified standards, utilising prescribed methods and tools.

Assist the business in shaping the desired future state, vision and outcomes.

Identify appropriate, effective and efficient solutions through improvements in information, technology, process or organisational change.

Analyse processes and data to identify options for consideration.

Help the team prioritise and maintain a backlog of work that has been agreed with Business stakeholders

Contribute to the BA practice by sharing ideas and experience to improve the engagement between project and BI Teams.

Provide a two way communication channel with developers and testers to ensure the business requirements and rationale are fully understood

Skills and Experience

Familiar with business information processes and key business principles relating to data.

Experience of data modelling/mapping and warehouse management

Experience of Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server Integration Services and SQL Server Reporting Services. 

Knowledge of Business Intelligence data warehousing

Essential Criteria

Strong experience within BI processes and principles related to data

Comfortable with data modelling/mapping

Strong background working on MS SQL Server, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and reporting services

Strong background on BI data warehousing

Communicates effectively verbally and in written format.

Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills to establish and maintain relationships in person and remotely

Desirable Criteria

Familiar with Agile and Traditional ways of working.

Experience with visualisation tools such as Power BI is highly advantageous

Familiarity with a variety of business analysis and business intelligence techniques, tools and standards.
