You'll be working as part of the overall Intelligent Automation Value Stream which is at the forefront of combining Artificial Intelligence and automation to drive innovation. Your role will be part of the Virtual Assistants lab working alongside the Product Owner and Engineering lead to continue powering Virtual Assistants with Artificial Intelligence to deliver new smarter ways of interacting with Customers and Colleagues.
Core Purpose of the Role:
The role of our Principle Software Engineer is vital in ensuring the products we deliver are fit for purpose and meet the quality and standards that our customers expect. At this leadership level we're looking to blend both deep domain and technical expertise within a feature team and show great passion for coaching and developing people in a "player-coach" model.
You'll be responsible for working hands-on alongside engineering colleagues to deliver the highest quality customer driven software and support the live system to maintain the service expected. Our ways of working are Agile and you'll need to work in a highly collaborative way to complete assigned work, showcase progress and address problems that are well defined, complex and often non-routine.
What we're looking for:
A track record of the required experience proven on a production platform, who has excellent interpersonal and communications skills to ensure that Virtual Assistants continues to work efficiently across the project life cycle. A knowledge of DevOps/SRE background and deep knowledge of automated builds, code quality metrics etc. You appreciate and acknowledge the impact of system design decisions on scalability, resilience and supportability Be a quick learner who can learn and adapt to new technologies being used within Lloyds and the wider industry whilst bringing those around them on the same journey. Continually develop themselves with industry best practice in order to advance the direction of Software Engineering in Lloyds.
Essential Skills:
Strong knowledge of the entire software development lifecycle
Deep technical experience with Full stack including; Javascript frameworks (i.e. React, NodeJS), JSP Servlets and Java J2EE.
Significant experience with agile development methods & tooling e.g. Scrum, Kanban, Jira & Confluence
Experience of using modern software development toolsets including DevOps, Continuous Integration and Delivery
Azure Dev Ops pipelines with nexus, sonareqube
Jenkins Groovy JobDSL and Pipeline DSL
Containers at scale: AKS/EKS, Docker, Kubernetes, Istio etc. Helm
Experiences and understanding of Microservices / service mesh.
Experiences and understanding of reverse proxy and API gateways
Recommended Skills:
Infrastructure /deployment strategies.
Logging management: Azure
