What we do

Defence Digital is a vital part of the UK Defence effort. We deliver information capabilities to the Armed Forces, with a scope that includes everything from digital, cyber defence, artificial intelligence, data protection and operating complex IT systems to military radios, military satellites and information security. With an annual operating budget in excess of £2Bn and a fantastic diverse team of 2,500 military, civilian and contractors operating across the UK and worldwide, it is a great time to be an information professional in UK Defence! If you can see yourself contributing to the world of Defence ICT we could have the next exciting career opportunity for you.

 About the role

As Service Manager you will be responsible for ensuring the Delivery Partner (DP) meet their contractual performance and availability targets for Above SECRET (AS) service(s). You will be part of the Service Management Operations Above Secret (SMOps AS) Team under the supervision of a Senior Executive Officer who in turn works to the Assistant Head Above Secret. The SMOps AS team is a mixed team consisting of Armed Forces and Civil Service personnel who liaise closely with ISS internal departments, wider stakeholders and the DP. Your duties include, but are not limited to, chair/attend meetings, provide written and/or verbal briefs/reports to your management chain, produce business cases and manage risks.

The incumbent must be confident, analytical, articulate and able to use their own initiative to deliver required outcomes successfully and in a timely manner. There will be a requirement to travel to meetings with the DP and stakeholders within the UK; where an overnight stay away from home might be required. There are currently no Line Management duties associated with these posts.

Successful candidates will be required to complete ITILv3 Foundation within 12 months in post.

For external candidates this may mean that where specific training or qualifications are required, probation may be extended up to 12 months. For internal candidates this may mean that if you have been unsuccessful in gaining the required qualification within the given timescale the Managing Loss of Capability or Qualification policy may apply.
