Software Engineer

If so, read on.  Established in 1979 and based in central Bristol (BS1 3LH), the Centre for Sustainable Energy is an independent national charity (298740) that shares its knowledge and experience to transform the way people think and act on energy. We design and develop software used by government and industry to shape the decisions needed to make sustainability second nature, cut carbon emissions to safe levels and replace fuel poverty with energy justice. We're looking for a Software Engineer to join our small, but growing Software Team and get involved with all aspects of the development process.  As a Software Engineer, you will:  - Help to determine the feasibility of ideas and gather requirements for new software
- Work with colleagues and partners to design, plan, implement, test and document new software
- Support and enhance existing applications 
- Assist with automation, data management and analysis
- Contribute to proposals for new work, including providing cost estimates for development work To join us as a Software Engineer, you will need:  - Previous experience as a Software Engineer 
- Good working knowledge of various programming languages and database systems, such as Java, Clojure, R, SQLite, Spatialite, PostGIS or PostgreSQL 
- The desire to learn and the ability to adapt and take on new challenges 
- To be proactive and able to meet deadlines Exposure to Python would be beneficial to your application.
