Contract Electrical Design Engineer Specification

Low Voltage (LV) Power Distribution Design Engineer

1. Requirement

Quotation for the supply of one contract Electrical Design & Drafting Engineer specialising in the field of low voltage (LV) power distribution, for a period of six to nine months.
The quote must include the hourly contract rate and an up-to-date CV.
2. Job Specification

STFC's ISIS Electrical Design Group has a requirement for additional contract design and drafting resource.
Candidates will be required to design BS7671:2018 compliant low voltage (LV) electrical supply and distribution systems, along with the associated technical design documentation.
Candidates will also be required to partake in some site work to facilitate integration of new designs into existing site supply and distribution infrastructure.
Candidates must be fully trained and proficient in:
      •     The production of technical drawings using AutoCAD Electrical software.
      •     The use of Amtech Pro design software.

3. Qualifications

Essential:

HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or significant relevant experience.

4. Knowledge and Experience

Essential:

      •     Broad understanding of electrical engineering.
      •     Proven track record of electrical design engineering in a technical project / industrial environment.
      •     Fully conversant with electrical circuit diagrams and 2D drawings.
      •     Trained and proficient in the use of AutoCAD Electrical and Amtech Pro design software
      •     Good knowledge of cabling, electrical manufacturing and installation techniques.
      •     Good working knowledge of British and European Standards, including BS7671:2018 (18th edition wiring regulations) and the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
      •     Computer literate and competent in the use of Microsoft Office.

Desirable:

      •     IET membership.
      •     Experience of working in a scientific research environment.

5. Person Specification

Essential:

      •     Self-motivated and disciplined, with the ability to work form verbal and written instructions.
      •     Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
      •     Proven ability to plan, organise and deliver work packages to project deadlines.
      •     Ability to work reliably under pressure, both in a team and alone.
