IT Technical Analyst

Would you like to play a key role in designing and supporting the military information systems & services of the future? Do you want to help ensure that our armed forces have the information intelligence advantage? We currently have a vacancy for an IT Technical Analyst specialising in secure military information systems and services within our Defence Information business at our Christchurch site.

As an IT Technical Analyst, you will be responsible for providing technical support and advice across our portfolio of military information systems. You will have a keen and natural interest in current and emerging technologies along with an appreciation of the supply chain to deliver COTS and tailored bespoke solutions. You will work closely with our System Designers to maintain existing systems and infrastructure, while also supporting the development of future innovative solutions against stretching requirements, all within budget.

You should have some hardware and software knowledge (or be prepared to rapidly learn) in the domains such as data centre or computer room design and operation, cloud computing, virtualisation, system and protective monitoring, and local/wide area networks within secure IT environments. You may also have an appreciation of electrical and cooling requirements, and ruggedisation of deployable military solutions.

Your main responsibilities as an IT Technical Analyst

You will be part of team with overall responsibilities for:

Working with the IT Supply Chain to support existing infrastructure and new requirements

Identify hardware and software solutions to meet customer requirements

Create Bill of Materials (BoMs) and identify competitive compliant suppliers with budget

Work closely with Procurement to purchase and process all materials

Maintain a thorough knowledge of current COTS hardware and software IT technologies

Awareness of competitors and their capabilities

 

What we're looking for in you:

You may have qualifications, skills or experience covering some of:

Degree or equivalent in relevant engineering discipline

Security architectures and COTS integration within military environment

Cloud computing, virtualisation, data storage, application hosting

Operational support, system monitoring, protective monitoring

MoD or Industry IT projects and programmes

Data centre and computer room design

Product safety, certification and legislative standards

Budgets and forecasting

Professional registration or willingness to obtain

You must be a good communicator, with the ability to build effective relationships. The role will provide opportunities to travel both within the UK and abroad, and you will need to have or able to attain the required levels of security clearance for the role.

 

Location: Christchurch, Dorset

Salary: £32,000 based on experience
