Monitor Computer Systems (MCS) is a software house providing exception event management systems to a variety of customers in the security, local government, banking and retail sectors. All its software is developed and supported at the company headquarters in York, with strong market penetration in the UK and Ireland. The company also provides software applications to North America and Europe.

To support its operations the company developed a bespoke business management system known as Icall, which delivered all the functions required by the support desk and the development team. Icall is a web product written in PHP and is now unsupportable and no longer fit for purpose. The company has decided to replace Icall with Microsoft CRM, and this is already in place for managing part of the business. All support activities can be managed by CRM, but the missing component is an extension to CRM that can deliver software release management functions. This summary is designed to define the requirements for this CRM extension. MCS will support and develop this module once it has been delivered, and it is a requirement that the functionality is provided using native CRM tools only, with no recourse to C# code.

The development of the new CRM software release management module will require extensive consultation and progress review with the chief stake holders in the company to ensure that the finished product is fit for purpose. To that end the company will offer interactive webinars and opportunities to interview the relevant stakeholders.
