About the role

Our IT team is seen as a critical function within Anchor Hanover, we are providing an opportunity to get involved in the transformation of our newly formed organisation.  Anchor Hanover is embarking on its Digital Business strategy - our roles allow individuals to get involved in both the technology and cultural change that will need to be achieved to deliver this strategy.

The Application Developer role is within the Applications Development team which has a collective responsibility for developing and supporting a range of bespoke applications, a data integrations area that handles the interface between all the Corporate Applications and management information reporting. The role will have direct contact with business users and will have responsibility for delivering quality assured solutions across the full development lifecycle.

You will be responsible for documentation and agreement of business requirements with business colleagues relating to analysis and design of applications. You will need to understand technical specification and system design in accordance with Anchor architectural standards.

You will lead on development in accordance with IT standards, unit, destruction, performance and system testing. You will be responsible for the delivery of robust, fit for purpose solutions and provide support for the implementation process.

You will continuously improve knowledge and awareness of issues relating to the services provided by the team in order to make decisions benefitting customers and work in accordance with standard working practises, highlighting opportunities to improve efficiency and/or effectiveness of service provision.

About you

You will be an expert in "Visual Studio, ASP.Net, MVC5, Entity Framework, Bootstrap 3+, C#, SQL Server 2008+, SSIS, SSRS" and have experience of agile software development best practices. You will have sound understanding of formal testing techniques and of object-oriented development.

You will be able to show genuine enthusiasm for providing a high standard of customer service and be able to conceptualise and articulate IT application strategies. You will be an excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to successfully engage with non-technical colleagues.

You will have the ability to work autonomously with limited supervision, a "self-starter" who is motivated to achieve high quality service. You will have well-developed analytical skills in combination with ability to judgment and analysis to problem solving and be able to consider a range of innovative solutions. You will be able to recognise the important facts and fully evaluate before reaching a decision.
