Senior Infrastructure Engineer - WSUS - Solarwinds Patch Manager - Testing - Microsoft

Location: Bury, St Edmunds

Duration: 6 month FTC

My client, who is an award winning and nationally recognised organisation, is looking for an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join their IT on a fixed term contract basis for 6 months initially. The role will be based in Bury St Edmunds but you must be able to travel to the Midlands on occasion too.

Key Responsibilities:

*Lead in furthering the automation and deployment of Microsoft, Server and End User environments. Identify areas in which automation can be improved through process improvements or the implementation of new technologies.

*Ensure new processes are fully documented and understood within the IT teams.

*Work with the application owners to define the timings of when automation can be implemented.

*Define prioritisation of patching.

*Review and propose the technologies required for a robust and fluid automated patching process.

Essential Skills and Experience required:

*Experience in similar Infrastructure Engineer / Senior Engineer role

*WSUS administration

*Solarwinds Patch Manager

*Windows Server Administration (Server 2008 upwards)

*Knowledge and experience in .Net upgrades

*Knowledge and experience in 3rd party patching (e.g. Oracle Java, IBM Java, Adobe Flash Player)

*Powershell scripting

*Knowledge and experience in VMware administration

*AD Group Policy configuration
