Are you interested in taking ownership and driving change within Bristol City Council's Digital Transformation team? Bristol City Council is undertaking a significant IT & Digital Transformation Programme and is looking for a Head of Applications and Digital to play a key part in this. The role fits within the wider IT Services senior leadership team, and reports direct to the Director of Digital Transformation. What will I be doing? The Digital Transformation Programme involves the replacement of a number of strategic technology platforms to deliver changes to End User Computing, Citizen Interactions, Staff Collaboration, Customer and Performance Insights, Resilience, Cloud-First/Cloud-native, Cyber Security and Information Assurance to enable on-going Digital Transformation. From the wider council's perspective, it will involve a significant culture and technology change transforming the way we work and deliver services to our citizens. As part of this Programme, the Council is creating a new senior management team within IT Services to drive performance and service improvements, with an aim of achieving ISO20000 certification against an ITIL-aligned service delivery model. What do I need to have? You will have significant management experience providing strategy and technical approach guidance to development teams covering Enterprise Data Management and Reporting, Web/Intranet delivery, Middleware/Integration platforms, GIS systems, Application Development/Support and design/test services. As we are moving to the Microsoft stack, knowledge of implementing and developing in Azure, Dynamics, Sharepoint and PowerBI environments would be beneficial.  Knowledge of a variety of development and testing approaches is required to determine the best approach for each project undertaken. Leading a team of c60 technical staff, you will undertake cost/benefit analysis, resource utilisation, service improvement planning and performance monitoring activities.  Vendor and Stakeholder management will form a key part of this role.
