Major Core Programmes Quality Assurance provides a Quality Engineering Centre of Excellence to deliver and continuously improve Quality Engineering through innovation and automation, driving excellence in testing, supporting Enterprise Transformation Major Core Programmes and Value Streams, with a shared goal of building the best bank of the future.
Joining us as a Quality Engineer NFT Specialist within Major Core Programmes, you'll drive quality software solutions into production. You'll be continually challenged, motivated, and help define "Done" from a Quality perspective. You will ensure we deliver Test solutions in line with the Test Strategy and our QA Engineering principles. An ideal Quality Engineer NFT Specialist for Major Core Programmes will be technically adept, with a deep knowledge of Quality Engineering, especially around Non Functional Testing, experienced in automated and manual testing processes, keen to learn more, able to communicate well, and with an interest in ensuring quality services are delivered for customers and colleagues. A willingness to get stuck in and learn on the job whilst also developing those around you is essential.
So what would you be doing for us?
You will drive test strategy, with a focus on NFT, to best meet the needs of a Major Programme, in line with the Group Test Strategy, and always seeking to improve efficiency and effectiveness through new tooling and ways of working.
Provide consultative support on NFT including, but not limited to, Performance testing, Security Testing, Accessibility testing
You will ensure tight controls on budget and manage cost challenges to support the Group aims whilst maintaining quality delivery.
You'll not only manage test teams but get stuck in to create Test artefacts, writing automation Test scripts against user stories or requirements and you will ensure Test traceability.
You will understand risk and ensure we take the right approach to deliver safely but with pace.
You will build confidence in the team and with stakeholders on the quality definition of the product.
You will ensure defects are identified and work with teams to provide fixes preventing defect leakage and helping to capture lessons learnt to prevent similar issues in the future.
You will ensure that Testing is conducted in a way which is consistent with - and exploits the collective frameworks, patterns and best practices that exist across the wider Test community.
You'll work with other Quality Engineers as well as Software Engineers, Performance Engineers, Business Analysts, Product Owners, and Project Managers.
More than anything you'll bring enthusiasm and an open mind to help us develop new ways of doing things whilst developing your own skills and experience.
Key Accountabilities
Developing test strategies ensuring NFT is considered from step one
Providing consultative support to other Quality Engineers around NFT
Training other Quality Engineers on NFT
Test strategy definition, working with colleagues across the programmes to develop the right approach
Production of Test Artefacts including automated scripts and test data
Production of testing deliverables such as Test Plans and End of Test Reports
Collaboration with programme colleagues to plan and execute testing
Test automation using tools such as Loadrunner, JMeter, Forecast, UFT, Selenium, Cucumber, Perfecto, Appium, Saucelabs, Blazemeter, Jenkins , CA Lisa, Jira and QC
Working within an Agile environment working in Scrum and Waterfall environments, and being flexible to work with a mix of methodologies
Building effective working relationships with stakeholders
Supporting the wider MCP QA team to improve processes and procedures to increase efficiency and reduce costs
Providing leadership to a team of Quality Engineers, helping them to deliver and develop
What we need from you:
Specialist knowledge of Non Functional Testing
Extensive experience and knowledge across the entire Test Lifecycle including Quality Engineering, Performance Engineering, Test Data and Environments
Experience with toolsets including Forecase, Loadrunner, JMeter, Selenium, Cucumber, Perfecto, Appium, Saucelabs, Blazemeter, Jenkins , CA Lisa, Jira and QC
Technical background with experience of Programming Languages including JavaScript, Java, SQL/noSQL, Python and Unix Shell
Experience of leading a team or teams
Logical and creative thinking skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build working relationships
Ability to work independently and to take responsibility - and uses own initiative
Enthusiasm to learn and develop as a "hands on" Quality Engineer
ISTQB Certification would be an advantage
Experience with agile development methods & tooling e.g. Scrum, Kanban, Jira & Confluence
