Senior Network Engineer - Edinburgh - 6 months - £400-£500 per day I am working with one of REED Technologies top public sector clients in Edinburgh, who are seeking an experienced Network engineer contractor to come on board for a 6 month period…. Main Duties:Perform planned platform upgrades/patching when the need arises;Review designs to meet system capacity requirementsCreate and maintain system and network documentation as appropriate (e.g. MS Visio diagrams, system admin docs and local work instructions (LWI))Troubleshoot and resolve any network and platform related issues; provide guidance to wider technical teams on issues that fall within own skill areas.Taking active part in the team's and department's Agile culture by learning and putting into practice the VFQ disciplines In order to complete these duties, you are expected to have:Cisco Routing & Switching;Common Design topologies for layer 2 / layer 3 services;Checkpoint / ASA Firewall administrationExperience with Nexus product lineKnowledge and experience of Agile working, including such disciplines as Kanban, feedback, retrospectives, VFQCustomer focused, through proactive engagementRisk aware, focused on risk reduction and mitigationExpertise knowledge in Cisco and Checkpoint technologies Good to have, but not essential:Experience of working in a DevOps environment;Drive platform strategy through SME knowledge to maximise platform availability in a structured and considered manner over the long term;Strong proponent of automation in design and implementation;Work with wider assurance function to ensure DR / BCP design, testing procedures are well established and performantGeneral security design and architecture knowledgeExperience of SDN NSX EnvironmentExperience of Cisco OTV supportExperience with VMWare Vcentre, cross site deploymentsExperience with SRM.
