Java Developer / Data Engineer (Java 8 Scala Kotlin Kafka Spark Google Cloud). Are you a skilled Java Developer looking to work on complex and challenging data centric systems where you can make a real impact and progress your career? As a Java Developer you will work on a large scale Greenfield project to bring two existing data platforms (Hadoop and AWS) together and combine them on to the Google Cloud Platform. You'll collaborate with the business and Data Scientists to build data pipelines, batch and streaming jobs; you'll productionise and support Data Science models and automate processes for the growing number of data platform users. There's a modern technology stack encompassing core Java and JVM languages such as Scala and Kotlin as well as data and messaging technologies such as Apache Spark / Beam; Kafka, SQL, Terraform and Airflow on the GCP.

Requirements:

Advanced core Java coding skills (Scala and / or Kotlin also beneficial)

Experience with Big Data technologies including Apache Spark / Beam, Kafka, Terraform, Airflow

Experience of building data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform GCP

Good knowledge of message formats e.g. AVRO, Parquet, ORC, JSON

Strong knowledge of SQL

Collaborative, keen to work across the full development lifecycle and partner with Data Scientists
