DescriptionWhat Elvie are looking for:We are looking for a full-time Senior Data Scientist to join our award winning team. We collect sensor data from our hardware devices via accompanying smart-phones apps, and also maintain comprehensive databases of user interactions and behaviour regarding our products. We develop detection models for firmware and mobile applications, to provide the user with valuable insight in real-time, even if they aren't connected to the internet, and support the work of the wider team by providing actionable insight on user behaviour.Data scientist with at least 5 years of combined experience in machine learning, statistics, data analysis, programming, or applied research in related fields with at least 2 years of commercial experienceWorked with time-series data collected using physical sensorsWorked with predictive analytics, classification, segmentation and detection algorithmsSkilled at coding in PythonYou understand how important effective visualisation isYou can design experiments to test your hypothesesYou can analyse experimental results to glean important insights, and develop new hypotheses to testThe idea of working within a successful, high-growth start up in a fast-paced role excites youWhat you will do:Developing cutting edge solutions to difficult problemsHave a significant impact on the research direction of the data science team and contribute to developing pipelines and processDevelop novel detection algorithms using appropriate machine learning and signal processing techniquesDesign, perform, and analyse physical experiments using the sensors employed in Elvie products, with a focus on repeatability, accuracy and replication of the use of the product in the wildImport, clean and process data from a variety of sources (in-app user behavior, multiple types of physical sensor, user surveys, etc.) using PythonPractise critical thinking and understand the flaws and limitations to the experiments and analysis performed by yourself and othersWork collaboratively within the growing data science team on challenging technical projectsProvide nuanced and detailed analysis of data, to both technical and non-technical people to explain outcomes and facilitate decision making ProfileRequirements/ What we need from you:5 years of combined applied research / commercial experienceAn MSci/PhD in a mathematical field or comparableYou can design an experiment, collect and rigorously analyse data, and think critically about the resultsA strong mathematical background, including linear algebra, calculus and statistics, time series analysis and signal processingExperience with machine learning techniques and training best practiceAdvanced coding skills in Python, with a focus on the numeric and scientific librariesSolid understanding and experience of unit testingUnderstanding of best practices surrounding Python package development and maintenanceExperience of versioning code, and data and pipelines with tools such as DVC or PachydermYou understand and can produce effective visualization (using matplotlib, seaborn, plotly)Advanced knowledge of SQLYou have excellent communication skills, both scientific and non-technical with the ability to write reports, present, and discuss resultsComfortable on command line interface (desirable)Experience of firmware development (desirable)Exposure to cloud computing environments (desirable) Job OfferExcellent benefits - please contact for full details
