An innovative food business based near Stratford upon Avon is seeking a Process Plant Technician to join its team. You will be working in its new greenfield rapeseed processing plant and associated power generation facility.This site is one of the most energy-efficient producers in the UK oilseed sector, producing sustainable, high-quality animal feed and food-grade vegetable oil. It is a state-of-the-art plant, generating heat and power for the process from UK forestry residues and off-cuts, and as such contributes to a greener and more sustainable environment for the UK.
As a Process Plant Technician your duties will include:
Ensuring that operations are completed safely and within a range of set parameters to ensure fixed production targets are achieved in volume, quality and efficiency.Taking direct responsibility for the daily operation of the crushing, refining and combined heat and power plants at the site and promptly reacting to system alarms/protocols.Taking hourly samples, performing routine analysis and recording and reporting of process data as required.Undertaking preventative maintenance and providing first-line diagnosis/response in the event of equipment failure.Ensuring cleaning schedules are always fulfilled and maintaining a high standard of housekeeping.Actively contributing to the Environmental, Health, Safety and Food Safety of the general site operations. To be a successful Technician you will have the following skills and experience:
Previous operational experience in a production and/or manufacturing environment, ideally with an understanding of Food Safety/HACCP systems.Knowledge and understanding of typical SCADA, Operator Interface control systems, and PLC-based operations. The ability to perform in a challenging production environment and sufficiently self-motivated to bring value to the business.A UK driving licence and ideally, a qualification/licence for the operation of Front-End Loader and/or Forklift Telehandler (note: operational experience is more important than holding the requisite telehandler certificate and training will be provided by the company for strong candidates who do not).City and Guilds, Higher National Certificate level or above in scientific or engineering.Fully Permitted to work in the UK without restriction. Good English language skills and excellent understanding as a minimum.Physically healthy and capable of working in a production site environment involving stairs, rung ladders and some high-level work areas.Health and safety training, IOSH, BSI, NEBOSH would be desirable. The production plant operates 24/7 and the Process Plant Technician role entails working a 4-On/4-Off shift pattern.
In return, the Process Plant Technician will receive a salary of £38k per annum plus overtime opportunities, 8% company pension contribution, medical insurance, critical illness cover, 25 days holiday and many more excellent benefits. Please note: This role will require working in an agricultural environment, with exposure to wheat, grain dust and other allergens.
