Purpose

The main purpose of this role is to support the UK IT Director by optimising the investment plan to enable greater value and diversify execution approaches to reduce time to value.

Through collaborative work with the leadership team, the Portfolio Practice Manager can orchestrate successful execution of the delivery plans maximising the use of resources to optimise efficiency. Stakeholders can visualise portfolio performance against their plans/roadmaps and take priority decisions to ensure they deliver the highest value projects, scale up/down and position their function for success in the digital era.

The Portfolio Practice Manager drives and supports breaking down silos, connecting teams, integrating portfolios, and providing executive level visibility portfolio wide, allowing the UK IT function to plan and scale more effectively to deliver customer value faster.

Responsibilities

 Tasks for this role will include:

Contributes to building, shaping and deploying the overall resource planning strategy

Assists the UK IT function in defining, aligning and implementing its resource plans 

Predicts, prioritises, allocates and manages resource demand ensuring optimisation and leverage opportunities

Develops the systems and processes to ensure that business, project and employee needs are met in the assignment of staff to projects

Will design, implement and control efficient LEAN resource management standard operating procedures and processes

Creates a credible practice that attracts top IT talent (architecture, security, big data, IT Transformation) to build a high performing practice of consultants with superior technical depth, and outstanding customer relationship skills

Provides full line management and performance management support to resources

Co-ordinates training and CPD of team members to ensure continually improving skill-sets and limiting skills and knowledge erosion

Ensures that performance appraisals occur upon completion of projects and that skills are updated. Co-ordinates and assimilates the performance appraisal information across projects resulting in a cohesive annual appraisal of staff who support a number of projects

Assists IT and business leadership team in actualising the technology plans within their own area of responsibility, working with them to ensure that technical and resource decisions link to the overall IT strategic plan

Works with Finance and Human Resources to represent the needs of IT and understand the cost and human resources impact of those needs in creating, implementing and adjusting IT business plans

Propose new and creative approaches to the resource planning processes using WFM technologies

Skills and Requirements

We are looking for individuals with strong commercial acumen and exceptional demand planning skills.

You will need to demonstrate as a minimum:

Graduate degree, Project Management qualification OR relevant proven work experience

Extensive Practice Management experience across a large IT portfolio for a large organisation

Experience of delivering high quality outputs within a challenging environment

Successful experience of influencing a wide range of stakeholders

Demonstrable experience of delivering cost savings by consolidating services and resources

Track record of effective management, motivation and development of a team

What we offer

This is a Permanent/ full time contract. Salary for this role will be from £45,840 per annum depending on experience, 10% bonus and single person health care.
