Job description

To be effective in a multi supplier environment, supporting the delivery of new or transitioning services and supporting service integration to minimise impact on operational delivery. Be a driver for changes by defining service requirements and milestones where they exist, project managing the delivery of business objectives. Support large scale changes.

Provides coordinated management of specific Digital and Information Technology change deliverables working with Digital, Information Technology colleagues and external suppliers to meet business and user requirements maximising benefits within the context of scope, quality, time and cost.

Proactively engages users at regular and appropriate opportunities to ensure user centric design with high quality training and support. Demonstrate leadership capabilities to support DTS transformation and delivery of the 2020 Digital Strategy.

Responsibilities

Deliver change projects and products using appropriate delivery methodologies, iterating frequently in order to meet specific business and user requirements.

Builds strong working relationships with delivery partners who are involved in developing and deploying ICT products and services as well as with internal colleagues across corporate services, HQ and areas.

Provides advice and guidance, both verbally and in writing, to senior business users (up to and including HQ Director level) and the technology change forum in determining requirements and priorities, and the resolution of issues, for changes.

Assesses the potential benefit to the department of specific technologies, products, methods and techniques. Evaluates and makes recommendations on technical options as appropriate.

On an on-going basis as part of the directorate's commitment to continuous improvement, the post holder will perform testing by working with users, reviewing proposed benefits and risks in new or redesigned changes, confirming the acceptance criteria and success measures for these projects, and ensuring that they are properly documented. Activity will be reported to the appropriate stakeholders at least monthly.

Works within a defined governance framework, which may be under the oversight and/or direction of a project/programme management office.

Benefits

Candidates who are recommended by the selection panel but not appointed to the current vacancy will be placed on a waiting list for 12 months and may be offered another post, should any further vacancies for a Project Manager arise in HQ Digital, Commercial and Estates areas during this period. CPS may also approach candidates on the waiting list to fill other HQ Digital, Commercial and Estate roles requiring similar knowledge and experience.

This is a full time post. However, requests for flexible, part-time working and job share will be considered, taking into account at all times the operational needs of the Department.
