Major Core Programmes Quality Assurance provides a Quality Engineering Centre of Excellence to deliver and continuously improve Quality Engineering through innovation and automation, driving excellence in testing, supporting Enterprise Transformation Major Core Programmes and Value Streams, with a shared goal of building the best bank of the future.

About the role:

Joining us as a Quality Engineer within Major Core Programmes, you'll play a key role in driving quality software solutions into production. You'll be continually challenged, motivated, mentored and supported and help define "Done" from a Quality perspective and deliver Test solutions in line with the Test Strategy and our QA Engineering principles.

An ideal Quality Engineer for Major Core Programmes will have experience in quality engineering automation and tooling, be technically literate, keen to learn, able to communicate well, with an interest in ensuring quality services are delivered for customers and colleagues. A willingness to get stuck in and learn on the job is essential.

So what would you be doing for us?

You'll build or help to build Test artefacts using and developing test automation in line with an agreed Test Strategy, writing automation Test scripts against user stories or requirements and seeking to ensure Test traceability.

You'll also have a focus on reducing risk to build partner confidence, in short making sure we're testing the right things, so we all know the product delivered is great quality.

You'll identify defects and work with programme colleagues to provide fixes, preventing defect leakage and helping to capture lessons learnt to prevent similar issues in the future. Ensure that Testing is conducted in a way which is consistent with - and exploits the collective frameworks, patterns and best practices that exist across the wider Test community.

You'll work with other Quality Engineers as well as Software Engineers, Performance Engineers, Business Analysts, Product Owners, and Project Managers.

More than anything you'll bring enthusiasm and an open mind to help us develop new ways of doing things whilst developing your own skills and experience.

Key Accountabilities

Production of Test Artefacts including automated scripts and test data

Production and guidance to testing work such as Test Plans and End of Test Reports

Collaboration with programme colleagues to plan and execute testing

Developing test automation skills using tools such as UFT, Selenium, Cucumber, Perfecto, Appium, Saucelabs, Blazemeter, Jenkins , CA Lisa, Jira and QC

Working within an Agile environment working in Scrum and Waterfall environments, and being flexible to work with a mix of methodologies

Building effective working relationships with stakeholders

Supporting the wider MCP QA team to improve processes and procedures to increase efficiency and reduce costs

What we need from you:

Quality Engineering experience

Technical literacy with the ability to use standard Microsoft applications and an aptitude to pick up new applications

Some coding experience in programming languages such as JavaScript, Java, SQL/NoSQL, Python and/or Unix Shell

Experience of working in a team

Logical and creative thinking skills

Good interpersonal skills and the ability to build working relationships

Ability to work independently and to take responsibility - and uses own initiative

Enthusiasm to learn and develop as a "hands on" Quality Engineer

Awareness of the software development lifecycle

Awareness or experience with agile development methods & tooling e.g. Scrum, Kanban, Jira & Confluence would be advantageous
