As the General Lighthouse Authority for England, Wales, the Channel Islands and Gibraltar we deliver reliable, efficient and cost-effective aids to navigation such as lighthouses, lightvessels, buoys and radio navigation, ensuring thousands of mariners navigate their way safely around the UK's busiest waters. Proud of the reputation afforded to us by many centuries of dedication to the nation's maritime infrastructure, we are a forward-thinking organisation and it is our ability to meet new challenges and the changing requirements of the modern mariner that keeps us relevant and effective.

We are seeking an Electrical Bias Project Engineer to deliver innovative technical solutions in support of our business needs.

This is an exciting, challenging role in which you will predominately offer sound engineering solutions in support of operational activities across a wide range of technical issues and implement continuous improvement strategies. You will therefore have the ability to quickly understand complex technical matters and be able to design and implement your solutions in line with the bespoke engineering challenges of a demanding marine environment.

The diversity of this role includes; project engineering, producing engineering designs and proto-types, reviewing tenders, producing specification documents and reports, producing drawings in conjunction with other technical staff, undertaking general surveying, test and commissioning (both on-site and in the depot). Good problem solving skills are required to overcome technical challenges in order to improve the delivery of our service.

You will be either a Graduate Engineer in a relevant engineering discipline, or experienced to an appropriate level. Ideally you will have experience of 230V AC (Mains) Design, control systems, telemetry and solar powered systems/batteries. You will have previous proven experience in assisting in the delivery of medium to complex projects. Project Management experience would be advantageous. You will also possess high level IT skills ideally within an engineering context.

This role will require working in remote and offshore locations within our jurisdiction, with extended periods away from home and outside of normal office hours.
