My client who is based in the South West is looking for a Lead Migration Consultant for an initial 6 month contract with the potential to extend.

The Lead Migration Role (LM) is responsible for managing the team that designs the solution for migration of the current solution to the new solution and to approve the migration designs. The LM will liaise with the customer and its current suppliers to ensure that the migration requirements meet the migration goals and ensures that the migration designs produced meet the requirements.

An LM will have end to end ownership of the migration for all aspects of the solution and will work closely with the Solution Architect and the new design team who will be designing the network / systems & technology strategy & evolution process, and delivery of network & technology options. The LM role holder will deliver the end to end migration solution.

The role holder will leverage the experience of the relevant BT wide professional communities to discharge these responsibilities within the restrictions applied by the security constraints.

The LM will work closely with the Authority to define the Authority stakeholders for the migration and the skills required for the Pilot users for testing the migration solution and who will sign off the different phases of the migration. He/She will work closely with the Authority's suppliers and be responsible for the relationships with both the Authority and its suppliers and will be the point of contact for any issues and resolutions to problems with the migration.

He/she will be responsible for agreeing the Change Management process for both Contract and Technical changes during the design phase with the Authority and ensure that the process is managed within the Terms of Reference (ToR) agreed with the Authority.

All Change Requests (CR) will be recorded within the Defence Service Management (DSM) using the CM process defined.

Key Responsibilities: ? Will lead the Migration Team; ? Will be accountable for definition and delivery of specific solutions to achieve to meet the agreed migration requirements as baselined; ? Work with the design team to understand the new solution and the migration requirements around information, technology, and process that need to be managed and contribute to the design where there are issues with the migration design and information availability; ? Carry out GAP analysis between the requirements and migration designs; ? To build relationships with the Authority, their suppliers, and external third party suppliers used within the migration solution to ensure full commitment and support; ? To be the escalation point for resolution of major Authority or current supplier issues; ? To be a leading contributor individually and/or provide direction for others; ? Defines, recommends and delivers strategy for the migration solution; ? Accountable for actions and decisions taken by self and members of team; ? Owns the baselines for both the migration requirements and migration designs of the solution; ? Manages the CM and CRs which use the process; ? Works with the Security project team and Security Working Group (SWG) responsible for the solution to ensure that security rules are complied with; ? Ensures that the solution meets the migration design constraints imposed by known vulnerabilities and the ITHC; ? Takes the migration design through the BT Governance process and Approves the design and design documentation for the solution;

Liaise with the testing team to ensure that the solution is fully understood and the test strategy maps to the design; ? Works with the Service Managers to keep them informed of the migration solution and any changes required to the solution and to help produce specific process required for unique parts of the solution; ? Liaises with the Trainers to ensure that the training meets the goals of the solution; ? Liaises with the ILS team to ensure that an accurate CMDB is compiled; ? Creates work packages with and for the design team for specific pieces of work required by the migration solution; ? Works with the Project Management Team to make sure the work packages are completed to schedule; ? Applies knowledge/skills through handling complex problems and/or co-ordinating work which may extend beyond own area of expertise; ? Anticipates client needs, investigates the underlying causes and identifies short and long term solutions; ? Ensures that the team have the skills required to design and build the migration solution.

Technical Skills

Technical knowledge of the following skills will be useful to the role: ? SharePoint; SQL Server; Microsoft Server; Microsoft hardening;Awareness of other Operating Systems; E-mail systems; Chat systems; Collaboration techniques; WEB services based on Microsoft IIS; ? Microsoft Active Directory; ?Networking; Information migration and manipulation techniques; ? Data extraction techniques from legacy systems; ? Scripting to enable modification of the data to be migrated; ? Knowledge of PKI and how it is used by applications.
