Salary band: £31,500 - £54,000 dependent upon experience

Application deadline: January 24th, 2020  Role Description As the software manager at LettUs Grow, you will report directly to our CTO. In your role, you will be responsible for managing the LettUs Grow software team.  You can expect to be delegated responsibility at an early stage and will have a real opportunity to progress quickly as the company scales. This role is ideal for a diligent, personable applicant who is keen to grow with an impact-led startup.  We look forward to welcoming you to our diverse team of horticulturists, growers, engineers, marketers and operational experts, to design and build the next generation of indoor farming technology together.  Your responsibilities: Mentor and manage the software team on personal and professional development (OKRs, processes, projects, needs and concerns) Report on project progress to the CTO and wider company Interface with other team leaders across the breadth of LettUs Grow to maintain alignment of objectives  Develop roadmaps as the company scales Plan resource requirements  Recruit your software development team Bring experience to evolve the software development practices as the team grows Who are you? As you will be the main channel of communication between the software team, the CTO, and other managers at LettUs Grow, you will be an honest and open communicator You are a supportive and caring manager You want the members of your team to be independent, and you give them the space and freedom to flourish You are attentive, can quickly realise when someone needs guidance and support, and you're quick to provide it You are excited about working for a dynamic Bristol-Based startup and recognise that with this comes a necessity to work in a fast changing environment What you need: At least 5 years experience in software management An up-to-date knowledge of multiple software practices Awareness and knowledge of the software stack that LettUs Grow uses: Linux, Django, Python, JavaScript, RDBMS, embedded C Experience working with distributed software systems The ability to anticipate bottlenecks, escalate as needed, balance business needs and  technical constraints Also desirable: An understanding of the sales process and how that feeds into software development and strategy Experience working in the development of web applications An understanding of software licencing and data protection/GDPR An understanding of software architecture design and development Understanding and experience cloud architectures The position is full-time, based in central Bristol and will benefit from training and external mentoring.
