Engineer Manager

Salary band: £31,500 - £54,000 dependent upon experience

As engineering manager: product development at LettUs Grow, you will report directly to our CTO. In your role, you will be responsible for the management and development of the hardware engineering team.  You can expect to be delegated responsibility at an early stage and will have a real opportunity to progress as the company scales. Your responsibilities: Manage and play a proactive role in the development of the engineering roadmap, balancing commercial objectives with resources and skills across project teams Lead and mentor a diverse team of product development and design engineers to deliver a variety of engineering projects Interface with other team leaders across the breadth of LettUs Grow to maintain alignment of objectives as the company scales Develop and build a world-class team of engineers to design the farms of the future Oversee and guide product development projects through conceptualisation, design, prototyping and testing Manage programme scopes, schedules and costs Keep an eye on the bigger picture and the company's future product requirements Who are you? You'll be a passionate individual who cares about our environment and wants to be a key player in influencing positive change You're capable of wearing many hats, juggling multiple tasks at one time You are attentive, can quickly realise when someone needs guidance and support, and you're quick to provide it You can recognise great work and ensure your team is fed positive feedback when due You find what makes people happy and you support them in fulfilling this both professionally and personally What you need: A BEng or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline At least 5 years experience as a design engineer, systems engineer or product development engineer At least 3 years experience managing multidisciplinary, industrial product development projects or large scale systems engineering projects Experience designing industrial equipment, engineering plant or horticultural products/systems The ability to work cross-functionally and in multidisciplinary teams A highly collaborative mindset and strong communication skills The ability to communicate technical requirements and challenges clearly to non-experts To use data to inform decision making Also desirable: A formal project management qualification An electronic or systems engineering background Appreciation of software development processes Experience hiring and building engineering teams Experience in horticulture, food, plant science, plant biology or other related fields Experience in CE certification of multidisciplinary systems/products The position is full-time, based in central Bristol and will benefit from training and external mentoring.
