You'll be responsible for designing, sustaining and enhancing our data architecture which will lay the foundations for high end predictive/prescriptive analytics including areas such as data lakes, machine learning and artificial intelligence.

Simply, as a data architect you'll also decide how our data is stored, consumed, integrated and managed by different data entities and IT systems, as well as applications using or processing data.

As part of defining the architecture of the organisation, you'll create and maintain a range of architecture documents including the logical data journey (which have data flow and process modelling elements), logical data models, data standards, data design patterns) and much much more.

Main Duties:

* Taking the lead on defining our reference data, master data management, CRUDs, data migration activities, and interface/API definitions

* Producing tailored information and data artefacts which can be used by other members of the business e.g. business analysts, technical architects, developers, testers

* Creating and maintaining formal descriptions of the data and data structures across the business - including data dictionary/definitions, data models (Conceptual, Logical and Physical), data flow diagrams and process definitions

* Data modelling for new business initiatives to drive out the differences between source systems and target data models

* Overseeing development and testing of end to end data solutions, enforcing established data architecture and processing patterns

* Working collaboratively to design solutions which deliver the businesses complex data and reporting requirements

* Defining, owning and maintaining patterns, policies and procedures for data definition, data architecture, data modelling, data governance and data quality

* Creating and maintaining high quality architecture documentation which matures the architecture repository and can be used by people/tasks downstream Key Requirements:

* Acting as a data architect on major change or transformational programmes, preferably within a Financial Services organisation

* Demonstrated success of developing a data solutions roadmap, setting out as-to be architectures, including transitional states

* Defining mechanisms to control when the data pipelines are executed and the dependencies between data pipelines

* Developing and maintaining data architecture principles and standards including Ingestion Patterns (full, CDC, transactional) and data modelling

* Undertaking design governance (reverse engineering) against ingestion designs and logical/physical data models

* Strong client facing skills, effectively translating and accurately communicating across technical and non-technical stakeholders

* Be accredited in architecture frameworks / languages such a TOGAF, Zachman, Archimate and be able to apply industry standard architecture patterns

* Hold relevant certifications in ETL tooling and latest data technologies and frameworks e.g. Microsoft, Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive, HBase, Oozie, Flume, ZooKeeper, MongoDB, NoSQL and Cassandra
