This is an intriguing opportunity for an experienced Applications Engineer or for a skilled ASIC Design engineer looking to move into an Apps role. This is a brand new position for my client and reporting directly into the Business Development Director so offers the successful candidate a real opportunity to be an integral part of the business and support with company growth and development. Located in the South of the UK and near to Reading my client offers a great location for individuals and families alike. I am seeking an ASIC Application Engineer to work with my clients sales team and in-house engineering teams, to deliver compelling technical proposals that will result in high value IC design-wins from new and existing customers.The successful candidate will have a strong technical background in ASIC design and/or project management and is either already engaged in an application engineering position or has a desire to move from a design role to a more commercial, customer facing role. A good understanding of analog and digital ASIC design flows is a must! Success in this role is dependent upon understanding the customers’ requirements and building a technical solution that provides a compelling reason for the customer to place their business with my client.
Key skills include; the ability to be able to work comfortably with internal engineering teams, project managers and operations staff within the business and to collate the information required to build the technical proposal. In addition, you will be equally adept at working with a range of external suppliers (IP vendors, EDA companies, Foundries, packaging houses etc) to bring their offerings into the process and apply sound engineering judgement to identify the most appropriate solution for any given opportunity.
Finally, you will be confident about presenting your ideas to the customer and providing strong, articulate reasoning to back up your technical proposal and be able to deliver comprehensive technical proposals for analog, digital or mixed-signal IC design and supply opportunities that will provide the best chance to achieve high-value design wins.
