€33,082 - €38,290 DOE Plus Excellent Benefits including Company Vehicle, 26 Days' Holiday, Pension, Life Cover, Health Cash Plan & More

Our client is a charity that provides a 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service and a seasonal lifeguard service.

Whatever the weather, equipment and crew need to operate to the very highest possible technical standards. It will be up to you to ensure this. This is an ideal opportunity to use your skills to make a difference, working on state-of-the-art lifeboats and associated equipment throughout Ireland and occasionally the UK.

As a System Technician, you will become part of a close team working with Station Mechanics, Contractors and other technical staff to carry out planned maintenance, fault diagnosis and defect repairs on mechanical/electrical equipment within the region. It's a chance to really make a lifesaving impact by carrying out vital maintenance on lifeboats and their equipment.

To be successful as a System Technician, you will need:

- A time-served engineering apprenticeship or experience in mechanical, electrical and/or electronic engineering
- An NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in a mechanical, electrical or electronic discipline
- A full driving licence

At least one of the following is also key:

- Wide knowledge of diesel and petrol engines/electrical systems
- Marine or plant experience
- Experience of the construction/modification of electronic equipment
- Experience of the repair and maintenance of electronic equipment

Part of your duties as a System Technician will include trialling existing, repaired or new equipment, so you will need to possess and demonstrate excellent mechanical and electrical/electronic knowledge.

You should have a desire to stay current in the use of existing technology and a willingness to learn and be involved in the roll-out of new equipment which is constantly changing within our client's range of Search and Rescue equipment.

This role is suitable for someone that is self-motivated and willing to go that extra mile, working either as a part of a team or under their own initiative to the highest of standards with a first-fix approach to return SAR assets back on service as soon as possible. Our client's System Technician will need to take on new ideas and undertake training.

This role requires you to be part of a duty rota and be expected, when required, to work unsociable hours. As this is a field-based role, you will be required to travel throughout Ireland and occasionally the UK.

As this is a sea-going appointment, you will need to satisfy the institution's medical and eyesight standards.

Our client is committed to safeguarding; ensuring the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk. They expect all employees and volunteers to share this commitment. The suitability of all prospective employees and volunteers will be assessed during the recruitment process in line with this commitment. This will include relevant criminal record checks being carried out dependent on the eligibility of the role. (England & Wales; DBS check, Scotland; Disclosure Scotland PVG, Northern Ireland; Access NI, Republic of Ireland; Garda Vetting).

They are an equal opportunities employer.
