The Role
This role sits at the intersection of technology, business and design - balancing the needs of the customer with business interests and technical viability. As Senior Product Manager you will be responsible for every aspect of product success and life cycle, and working with the business, digital and technology functions to achieve this.
You will successfully manage a portfolio of digital and technology products by owning the support and maintenance, vision, strategy and road-map, financial accountability, customer (internal and external) relationships, supplier and vendor relationships, backlogs and development, and providing leadership and matrix management as part of product development and product life-cycles. Products maybe internally facing, customer/consumer facing, supplier/provider facing and any combination.
What You'll Be Doing
Maximising products' business value, alignment to and achievement of the CIPD's business goals.
Responsible for the product vision and roadmap from working with stakeholders (users, customers, business, digital, technology and vendors)
Ensuring that product design meets the needs of the business
Commissioning user research and business analysis to understand current and future needs.
Owning the product financials, business case, and understanding the value to the organisation
Translating business strategy and user research into product strategy using a product roadmap
Managing product releases by working with technical team, suppliers and the business
Defining features, balancing business requirement and user experience - you will prioritises feature set according to strategic goals and user needs
Writing product specifications and requirements; appraising new product ideas, creating user stories and acceptance scenarios/criteria
Ensuring product features are user tested and follow UX and accessibility best practice
Following technology trends to inform ongoing product development
Contributing to the Information Technology department strategy
Mentoring, coach and supporting other members of the Product Management team, and other members of Digital and Technology functions
Taking an active role is supporting and developing the Product Management profession in CIPD
What You'll Need To Be Successful
Experience of reviewing and proposing new tools, platforms or processes
Attention to detail as well as organisational and interpersonal skills
Good business awareness and commercial focus
The ability to manage projects effectively
Good understanding of technology used by the products
Ability to co-ordinate several streams of work simultaneously
Experience of managing teams and developing team members
Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills
Strong analytical, problem solving and strategic thinking skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience of managing and suppliers
Finance and budget responsibility experience
