Lead Developer (PHP/ Symfony/ AWS/ DDD)

My client are a team of event professionals, project managers, designers and technical experts that create and deliver engaging virtual events. They aim to extend their clients global communications reach, saving them time, money, and environmental impacts. After operating for 10 years this April they have built up an online event platform with a host of varied features. A list so eclectic it has them winning international clients from all over the world.With steady and continued growth year-on-year now is a fundamental time of accelerating that growth, they are taking big steps to refine both internal processes and their architecture and codebase.You will be joining as Lead Developer working with one mid-level developer and reporting into the Head of Development. You will take primary responsibility for driving forward the complete replacement of the existing platform. With a fourth hire planned later in 2020, as business grows, the development team will grow with it.

About you:

As an experienced developer you have high attention to detail with a passion for really understanding the business' domain and how the business operates leading to you writing code that is accurate and productive for the business.Joining us, as we are a small team, will mean you will be integral to helping put together our working practices and how we operate as we go forward and grow.

About the role:

You will be modernising the existing codebase, migrating legacy code into a more structured framework to organise the codebase, refactoring projects to rewrite code to accurately match my clients current domain, by writing modern PSR2 standard event driven code. You will also be responsible for the development and implementation of new code testing standards.

Skills

Must have skills/ experience:

Domain Driven Design and its importance in writing good software.Advanced Object Oriented DesignAdvanced API Design and development8+ years commercial PHP (including recent PHP 7+ & Symfony)Knowledge of Symfony Framework (version 4 a plus)Solid Javascript (browser and Node.js)Excellent written and verbal communicationCommercial Amazon Web ServicesImplementation of Unit TestingVCS with GitDocker in both development and production environmentsPerformant MySQL statements + database schema change managementDevelopment in a Linux/ Mac environment

Desirable but not essential:

Expert level Javascript (browser and Node.js)Event based programming (Event Sourcing also a plus)Automated deployment and CI processesTwilioJIRA & AgileWebRTC
