IT Project Discovery Officer- INSIDE IR35- £204 Per DayPurposeOur clients project is a strategic high value project that will involve a program of office moves and changes to working practises. The ICT infrastructure and devices will also change to enable the new ways of working including the replacement of existing desktop systems with Laptop devices.The staff member will be required to join the project team and perform the role of ICT Discovery Officer working closely with the business to plan and carry out discovery activities in preparation for the deployment of new technology.The staff member will also be required to communicate the project objectives, and provide assistance to council staff to enable them to make the transition to the new desktop effectively.The successful candidate will show:Basic understanding of Computer hardware and peripheral connectivitySoftware and Operating SystemNetwork connectivityAssistive technologiesKnowledge of Windows 10 and desktop applications including Microsoft OfficeExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent customer facing skillsExcellent organisational skillsAbility to follow instruction and accurately report on progressAbility to work as part or team or in isolation as requiredAbility to work in a fast-pace environmentExperience working within a corporate environment essential, within a local authority advantageousScopeThe post holders will be allocated work by the Discovery Agent. For example:Capture details of current ICT equipment used throughout the councilUnderstand how customer makes personal and shared use of devicesInput to the Test Approach (and work with Build and Deployment teams to create suitable environments for testing) for: Hardware within the environmentSoftware applicationsAssistive technologiesSpecialist hardware peripheralsWork with project teams to write detailed Delivery PlansAgree approach with stakeholders as defined within Delivery PlanManage handover of agreed Delivery Plans to Deployment teamCoordinate delivery of new devices in time for trainingUnderstand each teams training requirement and work with the training team to coordinate trainingBe on hand at go-live to enhance staffs experience of their new working environment and toolsKey TasksSurvey and document current environment; user details, hardware, software and portable devices, per team, per buildingIdentify and document shared use areas such as hot-desks, and ICT kitted meeting roomsIdentify and document Assistive TechnologyTimely identification and reporting of non-standard technologyReport discovery information to BWP Project team via approved methodRaise risks and issues to the Discovery Lead for discussion, mitigation, or escalationSupport transition from current to new environment; including UAT as requiredDiscussion with service areas about non-standard software/hardware Key MeasuresProduction of detailed Discovery in line with agreed project timelinesTimelyProduction of detailed Delivery Plans aligned with strategic goals of dependent programmes within agreed project timelinesDelivery Plan agreed and signed off by the businessRelationshipsEstablishes positive working relationships with the business on behalf of the programme and ICT.Works effectively with other members of the project team.
