Software tech at Sage means giving businesses of all sizes the technology to better manage everything from money to people. As a Front End/Full Stack Developer here, you'll be part of a global market leader but with a very local heart. We're a FTSE 100 company with £60m of new investment into the business, over 13,000 colleagues globally and we continually give back to our local communities.
This is not simply a developer role. It's a fantastic opportunity to build, enhance and maintain products and services that change customers' and business partners' lives, right here in Reading! You'll be an inspiration to your colleagues - sharing knowledge on tech solutions and business processes as you focus on the time and attendance elements of our Sage People product.
You'll
Develop, deliver and maintain outstanding software on the Salesforce platform
Be focused on quality, contributing to peer reviews of estimates, designs and code
Make sure every bug or defect you turn up is eradicated during QA testing, pre-production, production and post-release patches
Be there right across the project lifecycle, throwing in big ideas and working collaboratively
Maintain meaningful, well organised documents to describe logic, coding/configuration, testing and any changes
Offer brilliant third tier support for your area of responsibility
The person
We've put together a strong team of professionals here and we're looking for more of the same. We're after someone who's as passionate about meeting customer needs as they are about the tech. With a great fundamental conceptual understanding of software development, too, of course. Our perfect Front End/Full Stack Developer will:
Have great experience with Agile Development, SCRUM and/or Extreme Programming methodologies
Be able to interpret and document user needs and translate them into tech specs and/or code
Have the kind of numerical reasoning and logical approach to solve the toughest problems
Know at least one relevant programming language - C#, Java or Apex, as well as frameworks and databases
Be excited about adapting to big changes, be they technical or environmental
Have brilliant broad operational knowledge of modern IT (Cloud, Social, Mobility, IoT, Big Data, etc.)
Be a truly innovative and creative thinker with experience using a TDD approach
The offering
This is your chance to build a great career, right here in Reading. All the development you can handle and challenges galore. That means global hackathons, a Technical Fellowship programme and you'll get five training days plus five volunteer days per year so you can learn and give something back in the local community. And all this with a company that's as local as the annual festival! At the office, we have a running club, yoga and of course, loads of fantastic tech... which reminds us: create something that we go on to patent and you'll get an Inventors' bonus.
