IT Systems and Security Administrator / Location - Edinburgh / Permanent / Start - ASAP / £NEG

We are looking for an IT systems and security administrator for a financial services client based in Edinburgh. The IT Systems and Security Administrator role will be responsible for the delivery of a stable, scalable and supported infrastructure platform. The successful candidate will be working within an IT support team, the individual will work closely with leadership teams in order to deliver and support infrastructure solutions that meet the Companies needs.

Key Responsibilities

*User administration (setup and maintaining accounts)

*VMWare Virtual Server and View Virtual Desktop Administration and Support

*Active Directory Management DHCP/DNS/Certificates etc.

*Provide business resilience support for our workplace recovery site

*Maintenance and Monitoring of systems and services

*Maintain policies and best practices for the use of the end user computer system and network access

*Write and maintain system documentation & procedures

*Microsoft server and desktop patching on a monthly basis.

*Penetration testing remediation as directed by external security tests

*Review existing Information Security audit and IT risk registers and implement remedial actions to address security issues.

*Creating policies and practises to ensure the information security strategy is aligned with business objectives, to proactively reduce the risk and likelihood of any growing cyber threats or attack.

*Identify and evaluate business and technology risks, internal controls to mitigate risk

*Attend meetings as required

*Computer recycling and arranging for the safe disposal hardware

*Arrange for physical data destruction

*Capacity management

*VPN remote access administration

Essential Skills:

*High level of literacy/communication skills, capable of independently producing documentation written to a high, professional standard.

*Strong understanding of core technologies used at the Society, including: Windows Server 2016, Exchange 2016 on prem, Windows 10, Active Directory.

*Skills in other systems to include: WSUS, DFS, SAN technologies, Veeam, IIS, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, vSphere 6.x, VMware View 7.x

*Security (including Cyber Security)

*Knowledge of server or desktop virtualisation technologies and supporting infrastructure

*Experience of writing and understanding Powershell & visual basic scripts

*Excellent fault finding and diagnostic skill

*Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office application suite

Desirable: SQL Server / Business continuity / Mobile device support

Essential:

A relevant IT degree level qualification or proof of comparable experience.

Desirable:

Possession of one or more relevant IT qualifications

(e.g. CompTIA A+/Network+, relevant Microsoft certifications, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, VMware VCP-DCV)
