Are you an experienced buyer looking for a permanent position in an industry leading Engineering company based in Bolton? Are you looking for an immediately available position that offers great benefits and an excellent salary?
Due to continued growth and having secured a major contract, my client is looking to grow their buying team.
Main Responsibilities:
* Planning deliveries to optimise production output and pricing discounts
* Involvement in the negotiation of contracts with key suppliers
* Obtaining alternative quotations to optimise quality, price, payments terms and delivery
* Ensure material lists and requisitions contain the appropriate levels of authorisation
* Prepare purchase orders, approve and issue purchase orders in accordance with company policy and negotiated terms and conditions
* Liaise with suppliers to resolve quality and delivery problems
* Maintain procurement files and records.
* Ensure supplier compliance with site and company safety requirements.
* Support the vendor relationships and assist in building effective partnerships
* Liaise with Accounts Payable Department to ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices, as necessary for the business with the supplier
* Selection of the most appropriate goods and services on the basis of specification, price, quality, delivery times and services support
* Any other ad hoc duties as may be required, commensurate with the grade of the postition
Essential Skills:
* Be able to make decisions, meet targets and work under pressure
* Effective negotiation skills and confidence when dealing with people
* The ability to work in cross-functional teams
* Planning and organising with good attention to detail
* Competence in use of Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Excel, Word and Access
* Team player
Desirable skills:
* To be qualified to, or working towards CIPS level 3
* Experience in purchasing role in the Nuclear and/or Oil and Gas sectors
* Full UK Driving License
* Experience in use of MRP system
