Microsoft Server Infrastructure Engineer

We are looking for individuals who are team players and able to work on their own initiative with the ability to propose and implement solutions to problems. An understanding of ITIL is essential with the ability to apply its principles to this role. Good communication skills are essential as the job involves interacting with customers, third party suppliers, business stakeholders and project managers. This post may involve leading on major projects within the team so good project management skills are desirable. The nature of the job lends itself to someone with good analytical and problem solving skills. Experience and confidence with working with the full range of Microsoft tools as well as PowerShell, is a key part of the job.

*Implementing measures to ensure full security of the Microsoft infrastructure

*MS Server Administration

oInstallation & Deployment Microsoft Servers

oConfiguration of Server Roles such as Web Services and Application Servers

oMonitoring Server hardware & Application Health

oTroubleshooting Operating systems & server applications

oReviewing Performance thresholds & identifying continuous improvements

oFollow all Server team policies and procedures.

oUnderstanding of ITIL management framework

*VMWare Administration

oUnderstanding of HA and DRS

oExperience of rapid deployment techniques for new servers

oResource and capacity monitoring tools

*Microsoft System Centre - Configuration Manager

oGood knowledge and experience of SCCM (System Centre Configuration Manager)

oExperience working in a 2nd level support environment.

oExperience patching a large enterprise environment.

*PowerShell Scripting

*Installation of various software components

*Allocation of resources to servers / users (such as memory, disk, CPUs etc.)

*Dealing with Remedy service desk calls & ensuring resolution within SLA targets

*Backup / restore activities

*Raising third party support calls and managing any resulting onsite visits
