You will be a Chartered Engineer with several years' experience of safety team leadership and delivery across multiple programmes. The ability to maintain the business's safety capability, provide strategic safety leadership and deliver flexible and innovative approaches in the military land, sea and air environment, is a major requirement of this role.

You will be expected to ensure SQEP personnel are allocated into Project Safety Engineer and Independent Safety Authority roles across the portfolio of Mission Systems programmes; in addition the role holder will contribute directly as a Project Safety Engineer to the EvO programme

Responsibilities

Manage delivery on the Bowman and CIP (BCIP) Design Services Provision (DSP) contract.

Work with the BCIP 5.6 Project Safety Engineer and be responsible for the BCIP 5.6 system safety case.

Work with the EvO Project Safety Engineer and be responsible for the EvO system safety case.

Work with the EvO Joint Programme Office (JPO) in the transitioning of the safety case to the JPO.

Maintain and develop the business' safety capability including the management of Hastings based safety staff.

Provide independent assurance as the company's internal Independent Safety Authority (iISA) for several key avionics programmes.

Provide safety leadership in corporate safety management including the company's schemes.

Education/Experience

Demonstrable breadth and depth of experience/competence in Safety Engineering for large scale system of systems, or a background that provides the equivalent transferrable experience/competence.

Demonstrable ability to lead a Safety Engineering capability.

A demonstrable ability to think at the systems level and innovate.

Competence in the following areas:

System and product safety case plans and reports

Software Safety

Fault Tree and Event Tree Analysis

Modular Safety Cases and Goal Structuring Notation (GSN)

Def Stan 00-55; 00-56; IEC 61508; JSP 454; DO-254; DO-178B and C;

HAZOPS

Safety Integrity Levels (SILs)

Legislative compliance and knowledge of current/future safety and environmental legislation

CCA

OHHA/OSHA

COSHH/MSDS
