Java Developer - Remote workingAre you a Java Developer? Ever dreamed of working from home? Want to work for a highly regarded Financial Services Institute?Our Financial Services client who are listed on the London Stock Exchange, is looking for an experienced Java Developer to join their team on a 12 month Fixed-Term Contract. The Java Developer will be able to work remotely for 95% of the role, as visits to the office will only be required for the first few weeks of the role, then once every quarter (on average).Due to the nature of employment the Java Developer will be entitled to Statutory Holiday and Sick Pay.This is a truly excellent opportunity, in-line with employee expectations in 2020 and the new IR35 legislation.As a Java Developer you will form part of a wider development team, working with a mixture of on-premise Java enterprise applications backed by Oracle together with Azure cloud applications using Microsoft SQL Server databases. Experience of XSLT, XSL, XPath and XML would be advantageous to support existing and new Content Management Systems.Java Developer - Key Skills:

'€¢5 years + experience in commercial development of building Java full-stack applications.'€¢Excellent Java and Java EE skills using Tomcat (we develop using IntelliJ IDE).'€¢Practical experience of GIT, SVN and Maven and Ant.'€¢Good software design skills coupled with knowledge and experience in the application of design patterns and use of SQL, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.'€¢Experience with cloud technologies (ideally MS Azure) including application configuration and deployment, CI and CD.'€¢Knowledge of Spring, Hibernate/JPA, SOA, REST, SQL and AJAX.'€¢Desirable - Java applications running in Azure via App Services, VMs, and Functions. Authentication and authorization models, API Management Services, Storage Accounts, Build Pipelines and Application Insights.'€¢Desirable - XML/XSL/XSLT for document processing systems.

Java Developer - Responsibilities:

'€¢Developing and maintaining on premise and Azure based Java applications.'€¢Implementing unit and integration tests to ensure code is fit for purposes.'€¢Ensuring code is properly version controlled and production code has been both peer reviewed and security tested.'€¢Develop with minimal supervision/guidance, upskilling as required.'€¢Communicate with business analysts, test team members and stakeholders to ensure the requirements are fully defined and well understood and developed code is complete and fit for purpose.'€¢Estimate development tasks and provide progress updates to the Development Manager.'€¢Document and share application and system knowledge with others.'€¢Coordinate with the test team to ensure delivery to test is complete, developer tested, and issues are addressed in a timely manner.'€¢Configure application environments and delivery pipelines.
