Job Title: Platform Engineer - DevOps Specialist
Rate: Up to £514 based on relevant experience
Location: Manchester
Duration: 3-6 Months
The Azure / Cloud specialist will work within a delivery team made up of Project Managers, Architects, SMEs, Testing/QA and Implementation Management. Closely aligned with the clients own Product Development teams, the primary function of the role is to be accountable for the Azure Infrastructure development and build in order to support the migration of 21 business applications from on-premise hosted VMware environments into the Azure Cloud. This will not be a simple lift and shift, but a partial PaaS solution with some of the application stack being delivered through Azure Managed Services.
Key Responsibilities:Work within a team of architects, SMEs and cloud-based engineers to help deliver the migration of 21 applications from on-premise hosting into Microsoft Azure.Serve as technical specialist in the building of Azure/PaaS/IaaS environments.Development and deployment of Infrastructure as Code and deployment of automation solutions and technologies.Support and provide input into the architecture and design phases of the project.Provide technical expertise and support to the project and liaise directly with the DWP technical community.Delivery of Cloud infrastructure strategies aligned with overarching architecture standards and principles.Provide advanced systems and intermediate network support as requested as part of troubleshooting analysis.Provide technical expertise with infrastructure migration methodologiesMentor existing staff on cloud computing best practices and technology
Key Skills:Design and deliver secure cloud solutions in AzureMust have strong Infra-as-Code skills (Terraform, Ansible, ARM Templates) on AzureFamiliarity with Reliability Engineering and Cloud Best Practise.Strong background in Active Directory, Windows Server and Microsoft based applications.Networking experience and an understanding of network protocols, DNS, VPN, and load balancingExperience/Knowledge of core security products and standards.Demonstrated scripting experience.Applied systems engineering experience working with design principles and Windows server applicationsFamiliarity with Virtualization and ContainersAbility to document in depth technical information and maintenance of relevant technical artefacts.Suitable candidates should submit their CV in the first instance
