My client urgently requires a SQL Server Design Engineer to work at customer site in Erskine.

Description:

This role is for a senior Microsoft SQL Server DBA employed as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the wider SQL Engineering team. This role requires working for one or more project teams where you will be responsible for the end to end design and delivery of a SQL Server platform to meet the requirements of our enterprise scale public and private sector customers. Although this role is primarily a SQL design engineering one, the team also perform the role of engineering support, working closely with the run SQL Server DBA team who escalate more complex issues to the team for a resolution.

Essential Skills requirements:

*Proven track record of designing and implementing Microsoft SQL Server Business Continuity solutions and the supporting infrastructure is essential. Including AlwaysOn Failover Cluster Instances (Single and Multisite) and Availability Groups.

*Experience of delivering these solutions into both virtual and physical server platforms.

*Ability to provide project documentation to support the design, implementation and ongoing support of the solution provided.

*Experience working within highly secure environments.

*A strong background in SQL Server Administration including implementing industry recognised Best Practices.

*Strong T-SQL skills to automate administration and configuration tasks.

*Ability to monitor/troubleshoot/performance tune SQL Server.

*Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex SQL Server design principals to both technical and non-technical staff.

*The ability to manage priorities and maintain engagement across several projects at various phases of their lifecycle.

Desirable Skills:

*Deployment and management of SQL Server to cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS.

*Experience with 3rd Party SQL tools from Red-gate, SentryOne, Spotlight etc.

*Implementation of Power BI.

*PowerShell scripting to automate SQL Server install and configuration.

Experience requirements:

Five plus years' experience as a full time SQL Server DBA

Bachelor degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related area of study.

(Eight plus years of experience without degree level qualification acceptable).
