SQL Senior Database Administrator - Permanent - London

£95,000

An exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing business with institutional backing and a proven track record in delivering a suite of financial services is currently recruiting for a Senior Database Administrator. The successful individual will be able to combine their industry experience with a vision for further product development in a dynamic, challenging and supportive environment.

Main responsibilities

*Responsible for all aspects of our SQL Server, SAP ASE/ SYBASE, PostgreSQL (on AWS RDS) database infrastructure.

*Much of the infrastructure estate is on premise but our use of Amazon Web Services is increasing, as is the use of DevOps tools such as GitLab.

*The ideal candidate will be an experienced SQL Server DBA, with a keenness for automation and DevOps.

*Provide administrative and development support for critical SQL Server database instances

*Work closely with development teams, advising on T-SQL code optimisations and database design

*Strategy for databases globally, including an advisory role in hardware and storage design

*Routine capacity planning, maintaining security policies, verifying backup and monitoring

*Expedite new database installations, upgrades and migrations

Technical Skills

*Administration of a large SQL Server estate

*Development in C# and/or PowerShell

*Expert in T-SQL and database design

*Troubleshooting and resolution of database performance issues under time pressure

*Experience with SQL Server disaster recovery and high availability technologies

*Desirable skills in SAP ASE/ Sybase
