IT Systems Infrastructure Engineer

A leading educational institute based in London is currently recruiting for IT Systems Infrastructure Engineer to be responsible for the development, support, maintenance and ongoing improvement of the IT Infrastructure Systems. The Successful candidate must provide a responsive and courteous service to all staff and stakeholders and work in co-operation with all sections of IT delivering exceptional customer service.

Main Responsibilities

*To resolve assigned incidents, service requests and problems in accordance with the IT Incident Management and Service Request Management policies and procedures, and within agreed service level targets.

*Undertake IT changes related to scope of the role in accordance with the IT Change Management Policy and Process.

*To participate in the evaluation, design, implementation and support of new and changed IT Infrastructure systems and related system management tools.

*To be responsible for the implementation of regular proactive and preventative maintenance tasks, including patches, updates and upgrades to operating systems, virus protection, firmware components, etc. in line with manufacturers recommendations whilst minimising disruption to users.

*To undertake capacity planning and security improvement tasks related to IT Infrastructure systems.

*To be responsible for ensuring that system/data backups are undertaken in accordance with the IT backup policy and procedures and that test restores are undertaken on a regular basis.

* Good Knowledge of Windows server, VMware, Active Directory, O365 and Cloud.

*To be responsible for ensuring that virus protection software is installed on all relevant Infrastructure components and that this is operational and effective.

*To produce and maintain IT Infrastructure technical documentation, processes and procedures and Knowledge Management articles.

*To maintain accurate, asset inventory information of the IT assets and ensure the recording of the data in the IT Configuration Management Database (CMDB)

*Attend and actively participate in Technical Design Authority (TDA) meetings when required.

*To participate in IT Infrastructure Support on-call rotas for out-of-hours support as and when required.
