Our Platform Engineering is concerned with the building and maintaining of environments that host systems, usually with high levels of automation. These environments are most likely to be in the cloud and may consist of traditional virtual machine-based environments (IaaS), serverless environments (FaaS - AWS Lambdas or Azure Functions), containers (Docker or Kubernetes) or service-based offerings (SaaS and PaaS), or, most likely, a combination.
We are an AWS Partner and also a Microsoft Silver partner, that is responsible for delivering pipeline as code and infrastructure as code to a variety of different clients throughout the UK. Within the business you're expected to use your skills in automation, configuration management, scripting and virtualisation, whilst keeping yourself ahead of the emerging DevOps technologies and can leverage these to develop game changing solutions to our clients.
Responsibilities:
A Platform Engineer works primarily within a project team with the following responsibilities:Project Delivery: the day-to-day responsibility for technical aspects of a project, both internally and at client sitesManaging, supporting, maintaining and improving the project's infrastructure, automation, continuous integration system and application release processActing as a bridge between operations and development teamsSkills and Knowledge:Strong experience in large scale Linux or Microsoft environmentsExtensive knowledge of Public Cloud - AWS, Azure or GCPInfrastructure-as-code - Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, ARMGood Networking skills - Subnets, Firewalls, Load-balancing, encryption, securityMonitoring/Alerting/Log Aggregation - ELK, Splunk, AWS CloudWatchContainerisation - Docker and KubernetesConfiguration Management - Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Powershell DSC etcAccess ManagementSoftware Installation - Manually, Scripting or Automation - Chef, Puppet etcAgileIf you are keen to understand more about this position, please contact Dave Macpherson at Evolution Recruitment Solutions.
