To lead a small team in providing an effective interface with external parties who aspire to, or are undertaking building, maintenance, development or other activities, where there is potential to import risk to the operational railway and railway infrastructure. To undertake risk assessments of outside and third party works, provide guidance and liaise with the Construction Design Management client and other duty holders.  Liaise with Asset Management colleagues to ascertain potential impact of proposals on railway assets.  Ensure enough information is gathered regarding the scheme and its risks to railway infrastructure to enable handover to Asset Protection colleagues for continued liaison throughout delivery. Brief Description We have a number of opportunities across project/construction management and engineering based at our four office locations.
Due to an increasing workload (in terms of value, volume and complexity) it's an exciting time to join our team as we grow and develop our Asset Protection capabilities in the Eastern region. The Asset Protection team assists external parties in the delivery of works that interface with the operational railway. We respond to 2500 queries per year ranging from simple lineside matters through to major interfacing projects (such as new bridges/major line adjacent developments) and including multimillion pound multidisciplinary schemes promoting external investment in the railway. Clients range from lineside neighbours through to government departments and blue chip companies. We support the delivery of major projects by providing the interface and assurance roles for clients wishing to invest in the railway under the Open for Business programme initiatives. Current investment projects include new and enhanced stations and upgrades of existing freight lines to accommodate passenger services. Are you looking for flexibility and a great work life balance? About the role Essential   HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject Previous successful experience of outside and third party engagements Demonstrable understanding of CDM and Health & Safety principles A sound knowledge of technical, safety and performance standards relating to the operational railway and infrastructure protection activities Previous experience of successfully communicating and negotiating effectively at all levels In depth knowledge of property clearance procedures and planning application conditions Able to demonstrate understanding of safety management systems and risk assessment techniques Desirable Membership of a Professional Institution Degree level qualification Network Rail welcomes applications regardless of age, disability, marital status (including civil partnerships), pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation, transgender status, sex (or gender), employment status, trade union affiliation, or other irrelevant factor.
