Senior Software Engineer

Would you like to Support one of the UK's most advanced Combat Aircraft? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Software Engineer at our site in Warton.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be working on the Eurofighter/Typhoon Platforms. You will be working in a hands-on role, mentoring, teaching and supervising small software project team whilst contributing to the code base under guidance of the Software Team Leader. Primarily working on the Engineering Support Subsystems for the Eurofighter Typhoon, used by Airforce personnel to communicate with and monitor jets, you will be marinating a suite of products that support the UKs most advanced combat aircraft, as well as other small projects including a ruggedized tablet and HoloLens utilities.

This role will provide could provide you with a stepping stone to progress into further roles in the team or around the BAE Business.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Software Engineer will involve:

Analyse system requirements to influence the software design and contribute to project planning.

Implement and configure new functionality ensuring a maintainable code base.

Produce Unit/Module Tests & Software Documents with the appropriate coverage.

Provide software support to the Systems Build, Integration & Test Teams during formal qualification activities.

Mentor and support junior and senior software developers.

Introduce new technologies and contemporary engineering practices into all aspects of the development lifecycle.

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Comprehensive C# ability.

Experience with WPF/Winforms.

Experience with VB6

Desirable:

Experience with Winforms, Oracle, TFS, Test Driven Development, Design Patterns.

Experience with Unity, UWP, Coded UI, COM, .Net Interop, SQL, XML (XSD/XSLT), Entity Framework, Rational Robot

Experience on supervising junior staff members

You will have the ability to work with minimal supervision. You will also be self motivated with a proactive approach to identifying problems that need solving. Strong Communication Skills will also be key to this role.
