Head of Finance (Commercial) - LONDON - £500-£600 - 6 monthsHead of Finance (Commercial) - LONDON - £500-£600 - 6 months The work location is in Paddington, LONDON and is a 6 months contract.The pay rate on offer is between £500 - £600 per day.The role is working for a well established, multi-national retailer and specialises in clothing, home and luxury product. Key accountabilities of the role includeThe successful candidate will take ownership of all aspects of commercial finance within International, this is a new role for the business and provides a great opportunity for an experienced individual to shape the role and develop within it.Business partner the Head of International Clothing, Head of International Food, Head of Trading for International Online and the International leadership team, to develop and drive the International strategy. Including aspects of month end reporting across the International P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow, as well as decision support, financial planning and financial control.Ensure the right financial decisions are made in a timely manner and that the business moves at pace as a result.Ensure value is created and value for money is achieved. Ensure opportunities to drive profitability are exploited.Ensure that management information provides clear, actionable insight whilst being easy to create, requires minimal invention and is delivered right first time.Work closely with the International Financial Controller, ensure that the monthly accounts align to all contractual arrangements and that the accounting considerations of new legal arrangements are adequately understood and correctly reflected.Deliver the budget, forecasting and long-term plan processes, ensure the financial consequences of the International strategy are fully evaluated and accurately reflected in the Group's financial reporting, annual and long-range financial plans.Work with Group legal as required to ensure that contracts reflect the commercial reality of our partnerships.Support the wider M&S transformation, including finance projects within it continually seeking to improve our business model and achieve an efficient structure.Lead, develop and motivate the International finance team to support delivery of all agreed objectives in a way that is aligned to corporate values.Key skillsCommercial focussed qualified accountant with at least 8 years PQE.Experience delivering change, process improvement and innovation in analytical tools to drive commercial value through financial insight.Able to influence at seniorSelf-starter who can work off own initiative.Excellent analytical skills, including experience of franchise and wholesale business models.Ability to influence both finance and non-finance colleagues at senior levels, including ability to present complex information clearly and simply to senior stakeholders.Commercial awareness and the ability to see the wood for the trees is essential.Collaborative approach, with natural style that builds strong network with both finance and commercial colleagues.Ability to drive the international finance agenda, including through management and development of team and prioritisation of efforts.Strong team player but also happy to work independently on own initiative.Willingness to challenge the current status and an ability to manage change.
