We're looking for a talented, enthusiastic and motivated Lead Software Quality Engineer (Lead - SQE) to join a SCRUM team and also lead a team of highly skilled Software Quality Engineers. The team you will lead are all embedded in SCRUM teams and function alongside developers, product owners and scrum masters. Successful candidates will have a passion for leadership, software engineering, the latest software testing techniques, digital products and want to be part of a team that builds services and tests for products which our customers love.

Responsibilities

- Identifying risk areas and/or gathering requirements

- Creating functional and non-functional testable scenarios from business requirements

- Maintaining build validation, regression & automation tests

- Creating test plans for new projects

- Conducting web service, UI, system integration & end to end testing

- Writing & optimizing automation scripts in BDD for:

- single page applications written with React JS

- Restful web services written in .Net Core & Serverless in a Service Based Architecture

- Native mobile applications

- Code reviews of automation scripts written by others

- Management of defects ensuring they are raised correctly, assigned, prioritised, root-caused and root-resolved

- At times, ensuring ML models conform to functional & non-functional requirements

- Making continuous improvement to improve the way we release (CI/CD)

- Auditing the testing process of internal & third party teams

- Making improvements to our security testing processes

- Making improvements to our performance testing processes

- Making improvement to manual testing processes (Exploratory, Scripted & UAT)

- Involvement in the hiring process to ensure we recruit the best talent

- Line-management and demonstrable coaching & leadership qualities for a team of Software Quality Engineers

Skills and Experience

- A degree in computer science or similar computing field (MSc a bonus)

- The ability to write code in both JavaScript & C#

- As a guide: approximately 7+ years experience in software testing

- Outstanding written and verbal people skills when working with technical and non-technical peers and senior management

- Autonomous and self-starting. Able to provide own direction with very little guidance

- Takes pride in their work and leads by example

- Knowledge of Quality Engineering/Assurance and applying this to websites, mobile applications and web services

- Experience of using Git to version control code

- Experience of implementing continuous integration, delivery & testing

- Experience of using database technologies for querying data

- Knowledge of basic cloud computing architectures

- Experience of using non-functional test tools & techniques

- Experience of running performance testing and/or security audits
