The world's largest membership body dedicated to the art and science of structural engineering. The Role Join our small, busy, inhouse Operational IT team as a permanent IT Systems Administrator. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced all-round IT professional to expand their career within a prestigious not for profit organisation. Become an integral part of the team by showcasing your extensive IT knowledge. Utilising strong technical knowledge, you will undertake ongoing management of the Institution's Infrastructure and systems. You will work closely with the Operational IT Systems Manager, supporting the delivery of projects for operational and transformational purposes and helping to plan, develop and deliver solutions that best support the activities of the organisation. Part of this role also includes supporting a staff team of circa 65 employees by providing 2nd and 3rd line assistance. Act as point of escalation for 1st line queries from the IT Support Analyst, deputising for the IT manager and providing guidance to the Analyst for their development as required. This role would suit an individual who enjoys working with people to expertly and proactively solve queries, as most of the contact with users will be face to face. Once familiar with your role, you will be required to provide out of hours support on a rota system. Other organisations may call this role Network Administrator, 2nd Line IT Support Engineer, 3rd Line IT Support Engineer, Systems Administrator, IT Support Analyst, Infrastructure Support Analyst, or Infrastructure Engineer. About You: We are looking for an IT Systems Administrator with experience of: - Supporting the infrastructure of an organisation
- Carrying out daily IT admin tasks, i.e. backups, security etc.
- Monitoring and maintaining key security systems and processes
- Working in a helpdesk support environment, particularly 2nd and 3rd line
- Diagnosing and resolving technical problems quickly
- Acting as point of escalation and deputising for an IT manager You should have: - Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
- A proactive attitude with a willingness to take on projects
- Strong technical problem-solving skills with knowledge of VMware, MS operating systems, MS Network services, MS desktop products, cyber-security, and backup and restore software
