Purpose

We're now embarking on a major IT Transformation project to drive change throughout our businesses. Our focus is on wind energy and smart grids, working to deliver for our customers, colleagues and our business, and as part of the Iberdrola Group, working towards a green future.

As Senior Project Manager, for our Network Business, you will have the authority to run our programmes and projects on a daily basis on behalf of the project board, within the constraints laid down by the board.  Your prime responsibility is to ensure that programmes and projects produce the required products to the required standard of quality within specified constraints of time and cost.  Additionally, the Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the programmes and projects producing a result that is capable of achieving the benefits defined in the respective business case.

Responsibilities

Developing key elements of business IT strategy to ensure all projects are consistent, adhering to the Iberdrola global model and Architecture direction, you will provide clear application design direction to delivery teams and improve knowledge of Applications Analysts through mentoring, workshops and other skill transfer methods. 

With early engagement on large projects and programmes, taking strategic direction from Solutions Architects and defining detailed Application solutions for the business, you'll assist the business in early scope definition, feasibility analysis and business case development.  Taking responsibility for supporting IT strategy implementation through Application design roadmaps and upgrades, you'll also be accountable for ensuring the delivered solution meets business requirements.

Responsible for investigating new Application solutions and working with external vendors to identify application technologies, you'll ensure application solution knowledge is kept up to date in selected areas of responsibility.

As this role operates as part of a global team, periodic travel to Spain and other company locations may be required, including attendance at conferences and external venues to ensure current knowledge of the application landscape.

Skills and Requirements

You'll need significant experience of Application development in an organisation of similar scope and scale to ScottishPower, with previous Solutions Application Design experience in a global organisation preferred.

Experience of IT project delivery in the Distribution/Transmission business is beneficial along with knowledge of regulatory systems and smart grid technologies.

Possessing experience working with external vendors to define application solutions, you will also hold a background in collaboration with various external providers, to complete proof of concept exercises and run innovation projects.

Understanding Application challenges and solutions, you will need a highly developed problem solving and delivery ability to analyse complex issues, recommend appropriate solutions and manage projects to delivery.

Fluent written and spoken Spanish is beneficial, as is the ability to build effective relationships with key stakeholders locally and globally.

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate (as minimum) related work experience in software engineering, enterprise architecture or technology leadership across multiple products, systems or platforms.

Possessing a background in Application solutions design delivering IT solutions, you will be familiar with enterprise applications, distributed computing, virtualisation and or application technology.  Delivering industrial platforms or horizontal software middleware, you will hold knowledge of technologies and common packaged platform/systems. 

What we offer

This is a Permanent full-time contract. Salary for this role will be from £45,840 per annum with 10% Annual Bonus and Health Insurance.
